Our Team

ZED is a WBE-Certified architecture and mechanical design firm headquartered in Boston’s Financial District. Our multidisciplinary design team is composed of professionals from the fields of architecture and mechanical engineering. This integrated design approach yields holistically designed solutions and brings much-needed technical and financial rigor to the residential sector.

Our team is based in Boston MA, Brooklyn NY and Portland ME.

  • Managing Director

    Stephanie orchestrates the firm’s portfolio of net-zero energy and Passive House certified projects, with a focus on the residential sector. She believes that great design should enhance the value of each place, be long-lasting, and make optimal utility of both space and energy. In addition to her role at ZED, Stephanie served on the Massachusetts Design Selection Board as the AIA of Massachusetts' representative and is a founding board member and former President of Passive House Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University. Stephanie is a Certified Passive House Consultant and a Registered Architect in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

  • Engineering Principal

    Jordan Goldman is a specialist in energy modeling, HVAC systems, and manages the firm's mechanical design practice. He is fluent in building envelope strategies and energy efficient construction systems, building science design principles, as well as mechanical system design, specification, and sizing for enhanced energy performance. Additionally, he is experienced in sizing and specifying renewable energy systems, such as photovoltaics and solar hot water. Jordan's energy expertise has been has been featured on National Public Radio (NPR) and he has served as a judge for the NAHB Research Center's Energy Value Housing Awards. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant. Jordan studied Environmental Engineering at Cornell University, where he received a Bachelor of Science & Master of Engineering.

  • Senior Project Manager

    With over 25 years of architectural experience, John has worked on the design and construction of single-family residences, multi-family housing, small institutional buildings, and academic buildings. John originally began designing single-family homes in the Pacific Northwest before coming to Boston to first join Maryann Thompson Architects and then later, Davis Square Architects. Since 2008, John has been a studio instructor at the Boston Architectural College teaching the Masters Foundation Design studio. John received a Master of Architecture and a Certificate in Urban Planning and Design from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland.

  • Senior Arcitect/Project Manager

    Matt focuses on the design of the built environment with future generations in mind, producing sustainable architecture and maximizing its capacity to positively influence the lives of its inhabitants. Matt has worked in Chicago, Houston, and Los Angeles on a diverse range of residential, multi-family housing, academic, institutional, and civic buildings. Matt is a Certified Passive House Consultant, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Registered Architect in Massachusetts. He received a Master of Architecture from Rice University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

  • Senior Architect/Project Manager

    Erika believes in forward-thinking design that embraces community and addresses both societal and individual needs. She has performed the role of project architect and project manager on many new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects for multifamily buildings (40, 50, 75, 104, 132, 195 units). She also has experience with hospitality buildings, including a boutique hotel and several restaurants. Erika is a Certified Passive House Consultant, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Registered Architect in Massachusetts. She received a Master of Architecture from Boston Architectural College.

  • Architect/Project Manager

    Noah is passionate about designing healthy, high-performance and beautiful homes. He has experience working on a number of building typologies including large scale residential, multi-family affordable housing and custom single-family residences. Noah is well versed in designing within a range of architectural styles, and draws influences from having grown up in New England before spending many years practicing in California. His interest in sustainable architecture derives from his fascination with the natural world and commitment to environmentalism. Noah is a Registered Architect and received his Master of Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Geology & Art History from St. Lawrence University.

  • Designer

    Fernanda has both national and international experience having worked as a designer in the USA, Brazil, and Mexico. She has expertise with a variety of project types, including commercial, residential, and stage design projects. Fernanda is keenly interested in the merging of architecture and horticulture; she believes in applying sustainable values to architecture through integrating productive landscapes, human experience and design. Fernanda obtained her Bachelor of Architecture from the Boston Architectural College in May 2021 and is a certified Permaculture designer from the University of Oregon.

  • Designer

    Katelin believes in an equitable and sustainable approach to design. She established standards and advised architects in design and building performance while in her previous role at an affordable housing developer. Her involvement in several design build programs throughout her studies allowed her to develop a practical and creative approach to design. She is passionate about combining function and beauty in high performance homes. Katelin holds a Master in Architecture and a Master in Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University as well as a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Miami University.

  • Designer

    Kate believes in a multifaceted approach to sustainable design. Each project should uniquely consider its environmental, social, and economic impact and draw inspiration from both local and global precedent. While working in central Virginia, Kate gained experience with a wide range of multifamily and single family project types, including residential, commercial, and institutional projects. She has experience supporting projects through every phase of the design process including site/zoning analysis, schematic design, design development, construction drawings and construction administration. Kate earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia in 2018 and her Masters of Architecture from Yale in 2023.

  • Business Manager

    Regina brings a strong business background in human resource management, project management, operations and administration across many industries. She brings a track record of building engaging productive culture for in-office and remote teams. With her experience and skills as an environmental activist Regina has helped transform and educate the Ipswich School District and Town into being more sustainable and green. As co-founder of Ipswich Sustainable Education, Regina helped lead a group of dedicated volunteers, administrators, and students in reducing waste, starting composting programs, implementing green teams, installing community gardens, and channelling local farm produce into cafeterias, leading the School District to be a recipient of The National Green Ribbon award in 2018. With a degree in Marketing from Northeastern University, Regina is your first contact for all ZED project inquiries.

  • Marketing Manager

    Alex is a marketing and graphic design professional with 14 years of experience in the architecture and construction industry. He is a creative thinker and doer, armed with the communication and digital design skills to bring ideas to life. Alex manages both the strategic and tactical aspects of the firm’s marketing initiatives and collaborates with the firm’s principals on new business opportunities. Previous to joining ZED, Alex held similar roles at project management firms Anser Advisory and Pinck & Co., architecture firm Studio Daniel Libeskind, and public relations firm Rubenstein Associates. Alex has an M.B.A. from Babson college, F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business and a B.S. from Northwestern University.
